SHELTER
Mutual learning programme on how to support victims of domestic violence at a local level
As a consortium partner, we participate in the EU co-funded two-year project called SHELTER. The aim of the project is to develop a comprehensive victim support protocol and service package for survivors of domestic violence in Józsefváros (Budapest).
- The project is coordinated by the Municipality of Józsefváros, with the following additional partners:
NANE – Women for Women Together Against Violence Association (Hungary) - Una Casa Per L’Uomo – Società Cooperativa Sociale (Italy)
- Municipality of Josefstadt, Vienna (Austria)
Within the project, we participate in the following activities:
- participation in study visits to victim support organisations in Montebelluna and Vienna
- participation in roundtable discussions on violence against women and an English-language online workshop on economic abuse
- our social workers took part in a training series focusing on victim support for vulnerable groups
- participation in discussions on the development of policy materials
- members of our community team attended the “Power for Change” group facilitator training organised by NANE
Our organisation carries out the following activities:
- on 26 September 2025, we organised an online workshop for professionals, aimed at collecting national and international experiences and best practices related to housing programmes that specifically support survivors of violence against women, and to create space for dialogue on the topic
- we are developing housing policy recommendations for survivors of violence against women
- we are developing a protocol for handling domestic violence cases among tenants in social housing
